Ozone Clothing shed

I should have done this years ago. Even with out the Ozone.

Built a wood floor for a 6X12 temporary shed. It's right out the back door of the mud room. Get a shower, walk in a towel into the room and get my base layers on. Get the gear I need and never re-enter the house.

These pics are before all the gear went in. But it gives the idea.
I'm loving this thing. Temp lighting and all.

I'm planning a very similar build this spring under my deck. We have a walkout, and a 10x15 area of unused space there. Should work well!

What ozone unit are you using?

I am building a similar one in my shed, I am not fortunate to hunt where I live but it will serve as a great drying and deodorizing room.

Sylvan 4000 MG/hr. https://www.amazon.com/Sylvan-Ozone...words=ozone+generator&refinements=p_89:Sylvan

It says it has a hold function but mine doesn't. The chicoms printed hold on it but the timer switch doesn't go to it.

I run it 2 hours then I restart it for another two. Also notice the flex tube that lets it pull fresh o2 in to make o3.
Someone here once told me it's not good to make o3 out of o3. I have a fan on the floor to circulate the o3. Don't know if it's needed but I heard o3 is heavy and falls quickly.

:) perfect set up. :)

You did good!

As a follow up. I believe this was the best non habitat related improvement we made at the farm this past year.

Trust me if you try it you'll pick up our new saying. "Nothing like the smell of Ozone in the morning".
Yes it has a smell, but so far the deer have not equated to danger.

I tell myself that "smell" is actually the lack of smell. I believe in ozone.

IMG_2408.JPG I made mine portable using my Ozonics. I didn't glue it together so I can take it with me out-of-state.

^^^^ We did something like that the first year. Used a pop up blind and an ozonics.

With the upgrade I can say the industrial machine pumps lots more of that, "fresh air after a summer rain smell"
Just don't be hanging out in the room with it running. :emoji_dizzy_face:

I just use garbage bags. My ozone unit has a hose discharge. I stick it in the bag and twist it to contain the ozone. I shake it around a couple times to make sure the ozone gets circulated.
I make sure I get the non perfumed trash bags.

trampledbyturtles question in the live from stand thread made me remember this thread. If anyone is using a bigger generator keep an eye on the ozone plate. humidity shortens the life of the plate. store it in a sealed container or plastic bag when not using it.

I burned two plates out so far. If you look in the unit when you start it up the plate should glow purple. over time the area glowing lessens and the amount of O3 being produced does also. My original unit was a 4000 MG/hour unit. I couldn't find replacement plates for it but found 3500 MG/Hr plates that fit and the are moisture resistant.

2 plates for $18 https://www.amazon.com/SummitLink-R...8&qid=1509404292&sr=8-6&keywords=ozone+plates

They carry a 4 pack also.

My Log6 finally wore out. It gave me several years service and was fine for use in small containers, vehicle interiors, etc. But it only produced 400 mg/h so it wasn't for doing large rooms.
I bought an Aqua 6 from Amazon for about $70 and it produces 600 mg/h so it will fit my needs.
One thing interesting in the owners manual says that ozonated water can be used as a bacteria killing mouthwash to keep breath fresh. Might be a good thing to have a bottle of that water in the stand for keeping breath fresh.

Ozone users,
I have read a lot on the use of Ozone, never tried before. I am considering buying an ozone generator on Amazon. What make/model would you recommend?

I like the Aqua 6 that I just bought.
It's not a high output unit but it is plenty sufficient for deodorizing containers and small spaces.
I wanted a unit that emitted ozone through a hose so I could contain the O3 in tubs, garbage bags, etc. The larger units that I've seen are an open grate type machine like a fan with no hose discharge that I can stick exactly where I want to treat like the inside of boots.. I saw little reason to treat entire rooms when my gear (and O3) can be isolated in tubs, etc.
The Aqua 6 has a timer with a bunch of settings to suit your needs. Plus it's small and portable for travel hunts.

It depends on what and how you're trying to do it. Tap likes cleaning a confined tote, bag, area with stuff in it. A small unit is great for that.

My unit was about $99 bucks on amazon. Kicks out enough to kill bugs in the room.

My cabin stinks. Humidity, mold, lack of being there to open it up. I run my unit in the garage, the mud room and the house at times.

During the season it runs a portable shed out the back door. We put everything we wear in it. Including our shower towels.

Wake up, get coffee. Go get the towel. Get a shower. Walk in said towel to the shed and dress. Never re enter the house.

Taps is for small areas with a hose. Mine has no ability for that. It will treat a big area only. It just depends on what you want. I like treating everything. My gun hunting orange is in the shed and gets treated every day with the stuff I'm using now. By the time I use it it's been treated 50 times.

Probably way over kill but I don't care :)

For a long time now, I've wished that I had a dedicated gear/laundry/shower/changing/ozone shed.
Large ozone unit or small ozone unit...they both have their places. I own a small one, but one of these days, I think I'll add a larger unit to my stuff.

I think one of the best uses for an ozone generator is for hunts where you aren't under control of the place that you'll be lodging. I've spent some nights in motel rooms that had all kinds of odors. Places that I cringed to bring any of my gear into. Ozone is just the ticket for those places.

Thanks for the advice folks, I think I'll give it a try.
