Wisconsin deer hunting history

I read though this and thought it was interesting.

With a peak of 700,000 hunters, no wonder the saying around here "there is blaze orange behind every tree" rings true.

It does have a lot longer history in "most" areas. It was made a "statewide" regulation in '86 to make the seasons and rule structure align.
 
I recently read the book "On the Hunt: The History of Deer Hunting in Wisconsin" by Robert C Willging. I'd recommend it to anyone that wants to get a deeper, richer understanding of deer hunting here in WI.

I found it at my local library.
