Well my deer season is over. We hunt from September 1 to December 23. I went out to the terrain yesterday to scout and take in the scenery. I took one last dram from the bottle of single malt I kept in the cabin. This place is magical in October when the stags are roaring in the mountains.
I scouted around and found a good amount of sign from foxes and martens. That will be my only hunting/trapping activity this winter. Otherwise there is a lot of work to do out there. Mostly builtin stands, but some habitat improvement is allowed.
I took some time to sit and admire the terrain and reflect on my season. It was a truly amazing experience for me. I have had incredible success and surpassed all my goals. I have also set in motion a few things that might make my future hunting opportunities even better. As I close this chapter on the season and the year, I'm staying optimistic about the future, and I hope you all do too. Happy New Year from Norway.
