Tractor insurance??

Jordan Selsor

5 year old buck +
Guy down the road from my farm got his tractor and some implements stolen, just curious if an how you guys insure your equipment?

Since all my stuff is where I live everything is covered under either the home owners or under the farm.

I called state farm to get insurance on my tractor, implements, etc on my hunting property. They told me I didn't need it cause my property was covered anywhere in the world under my home owners insurance. A few years latter I was broken into and lost all my tools, hunting blind, heaters, etc. When I called to file a claim, I was shocked because my deductible was something like 1 0r 1 1/2 the value of my house. It didn't pay to even file a claim for the $1500 worth of items I had stolen.

I don't live there so my State Farm guy won't insure that stuff, only the house and barns.

I have a monitored alarm system, video cameras, and the lug nuts off a front tractor tire and 2, 4 wheeler tires always come home with me....meth heads r too lazy to bring lug nuts. Unless their girl and best bud are in on the caper.

Mines covered under homeowners policy, but my policy will not be valid when there's a building on the property - it'll need it's own policy then. Cargo container is covered too.

We pay about $15 per $1,000 of value, per year, on the equipment we have in Missouri. Its in the form of a Rider on our Missouri Home Owners Insurance Policy. Have a $1,000 deductable.

Currently covered as it was required by the finance company.

JD Financial just needed my insurance policy number and agent's name/number. Good to go!

I work at an insurance agency in Michigan, personal items aren't expensive at all to insure.

We write insurance as an independent agency.

We represent several township mutuals. They specialize in farm insurance and hobby farm insurance.

Rates for tractors and farm equipment are around $3 to 4 per 1000.

Full coverage with $25 deductible glass and non depreciation of repairs.

Thanks guys appreciate your comments

You aren't one of those agents that like to compare size are you? :)

I'm not sure I follow you?

I was just teasing you since you were the next post after mine talking about insurance. 'oh you broke your leg, I broke both of mine.'

Just joking brother.

Sorry I didn't see that. In all honesty, there are guys that think there homeowners covers all tools and tractors and in many cases it does not. Riders or a separate farm policy will take care of it.

Guns also have limits on homeowners.

Yep lots of things the general public wouldn't know unless we told 'em. I guess its like anything though, if your not in it, ya wouldn't know.

Explain please...who are you comparing to Duffy??

If it's me I take offense, I'm not trying to sell anything, just give information. I don't need to solicit online.

Lighten up. Just having fun. Not pointed toward anyone in particular. Just seemed like something Duffy might have a hand in on a regular basis. No offense intended.....just trying to make a joke. Sorry.
