T-budding pears

Nova

5 year old buck +
On a tip from Turkey Creek, I am going to try t-budding from an existing tree that bares a ton of fruit onto one I have at home that doesn't bare any. I pulled 4 scions from the good tree last night, clip just the leaves off and put them in a plastic bag with a wet rag in the fridge. Should I t-bud them to a branch or to the trunk of the tree or both. I am brand new to this, so any help I can get would be great. I have watch several videos on t-budding, so I have an idea of how to do it. The tree I have at home is roughly 12' tall with 6-8 real good branches and the main leader.

I would try and T-bud into this years growth. You will get fewer takes under the old bark. Once the tree is "saved" in coming years you can cut some scion off and then bark graft down into the older branches if you want to do away with most of the "root stock" tree.
