A lot of folks maintain the full moon results in deer moving all night. My experience, for several years, as a federal wildlife biologist I used to assist the state biologists with they were in the area doing their abo mason parasite counts - otherwise know as “APC Shoots”. Typically, we would have our five deer killed - two bucks, two does, and a fawn - by ten or eleven at night. First time I went with them on full moon, I think we had killed one deer by midnight. State biologist who did a dozen of these collections a year, said as soon and moon sets, we will kill what we need in a hour. He was right
Yesterday, I was heading out to get in my stand an hour before sunrise. Cool, clear, beautiful morning. On the sxs ride to the stand, I was looking at a setting moon above the west horizon. Moon was still above horizon at sunrise. By 8 am, hadnt seen a deer - by 9 am, I had seen five. I left at 10 am and big buck showed at 10:20. I still go when I can, but I try to hunt middle of the day on full moon nights.
