Stopping trunk sprouts

I’ve never used it so I can’t say

Do you use it? Is it good stuff?
Never used it either. It says it lasts up to 6 months and you may need to reapply. I have some grafted chestnuts in my yard that send off a lot of suckers, so I might get a bottle in the spring.

It has a growth inhibitor and says you have to prune properly for it to work. It's somewhat worrisome to me that the growth inhibitor might harm the tree.

I would steer clear of a growth inhibitor on my apple trees - I want them to grow fast!

In the past week I've removed close to a dozen large apple tree cages and placed smaller cages on the trunks. Lots of them had stump sprouts, but the deer will browse those sprouts down to nothing in no time.

I agree anything you spray on sprouts can hurt the mother tree.

Biggest thing is to try and not use rootstocks that are prone to root sprouts.
