Reconyx Hyperfire 4K Cell Cam - When?

farmlegend

5 year old buck +
The Reconyx cellular trail camera has been "coming soon" for nearly a year now.

Does anyone have a scoop on the story?

Last fall, lol! I emailed them in September but didn't get a response.

In stock now... and they're free(ish)... I just ordered some..

They're going to force the competition with this one.

Almost $21 a month is a bit steep for empty pockets like me. lol
We'll see.

I don't consider Cuddelink user friendly or reliable. Nor do I believe Tactacam is reliable. I've owned probably 6 different brands and should go back to making my own DIY. I do like taking a picture before I get to blind though. Won't matter what brand if other states follow suit and ban trail cameras. Hope they ban drones first.

I've got to say, I'm disappointed in their product offering. Looks like just another cell cam but with Reconyx-level quality.

After the nearly two year delay, I was expecting (hoping for) something really next level, kind of like cameras with the ability to link together, or a home base, or dedicated cloud accounts, or something like a user-friendly highly reliable Cuddelink system.

I run 12-14 cameras. mostly over food sites, taking 40,000 images over a four month period, and the LAST place I want my images routed to is my phone.

I agree

I hope no deer walk in front of my security cameras.

Still trying to decide how much free is going to cost me compared to there older cell cams. Always ran Reconyx but couple years ago bought one of each, tactacam and Reconyx to try cell cams. Tactacam gets 1/2 pictures of reconyx. Reconyx always has poor cell reception compared to Tactacam. With Reconyx MUST run min 15AH external battery.

I've used Reconyx for a number of years, but changed course recently due to the wait. After some research, I ended up with 6 of the newest Wiseeyes, DC-2 no glow. I have had them for a week now, and they have been great. The biggest question is durability--with Reconyx, I have some I put out at least 4 years ago that haven't moved. They are setup with a panel and just keep on working well. With Wiseeye, I went with their Ranch plan which allows you to pay a smaller monthly fee for for each camera and you pay for data by the block for the entire package. The monthly cost is shaping up to be much lower, and can easily be manipulated by choosing how many cameras to run and how much data to collect. Later in the summer, I'll request burst mode, higher def videos, etc So far, I'm very impressed with the system and will likely add a few more.
