Plum crazy!

5 year old buck +
Went back and checked on the plum thicket I found. They're still not ready yet, but some leaves have fallen and they are loaded. I get by here twice a week. I'm gonna try to catch them right as they start falling and try to make some jam with them.

I should have looked to see what forum this was posted in before I got my hopes up. o_OWhen I saw the title of the thread, I thought someone on here went out and got themselves a "new" Mopar! Those native wild plums are a pretty good find as well though.:D

Great looking plums. Those are a lot later ripening than the ones I grow.

What type are these?!

I couldn't tell ya. They look a lot like the ones in my dad's windbreak back home. My guess would be some kind of SWCD planting from back in the day. They are growing along an old rail bed converted to a trail.

Any idea on what makes a good year for, plums and what doesn't?

Last year they were everywhere I looked. This year the crop looks pretty nonexistent.
