Persimmon, direct seeding

Hello,
I've come to find that i don't have nearly as much time in spring as I'd like, as it comes to starting trees indoors. I know they say persimmon grows like weeds in some places, but as trying to specifically start trees in areas I want them I would like to direct seed some. Any advice? Do I need to scarify them as though they had been digested for better germination?

I would or just collect them out of coyote poop. There's plenty of that to be had.

I would, but atleast on areas where i have permission to be there are no native persimmons growing that im aware of. Hence the reason I want to start some. They grow well in my zone, but within my hunting area are non existent

If you can find a way to keep rats/mice from getting to them.

I've got several that I grew from seed.

I ended up buying seedlings from Kansas Forestry Service. 25 trees for $40. It's a bargain compared to the time and effort it takes to grow from seed.

I would go with this approach or just topwork native trees

Persimmons were difficult for me to grow in containers for multiple reasons
