My partners bough some "Kieffer" pears about 5 years ago. They are self-fertile. They grew like mad, but never produced fruit. Finally this year, one of the trees produced 2 pears. They are not Kieffer. I don't know if they were mislabeled or if someone intentionally duped him to get rid of the stock they had. Either way, they obviously need a pollinating partner. So, my plan was to plant one with each group of existing pears and see if they improve production. Since I don't know what variety the existing pears are, I'll just need to try to find a good pollinator. I figure if these trees I'll be planting this year don't turn out to be productive, I can always top work them.
Thanks,
Jack
