Painted trunks...do I need to screen them as well.

I got all my pear and apple tree trunks painted this weekend. Is this also a deterant to rodents or should I still put window screen around them?

I believe you need to screen for the rodents. The paint protects against sunscald.

i used to live in syracuse. i thought syracuse got a lot of snow (132" avg annually).....then i realized that 30 miles north meant 200 MORE inches of snow...it's an interesting place up there. i can't imagine trying to grow fruit trees (let alone survive the winter!) there. good luck to you.
