One of the FB Trees not making it

I grafted several of my trees that I had cut off at about three feet following sever fire blight the summer of 2014. One tree just never did anything after it was cut. It really does not look bad, but grew no new sprouts this year and none of the grafts took. All other trees did well and accepted the grafts with the exception of this one. It just continue to look bad. I plan on pushing it out with the tractor this winter some time.

I had severe FB last year. I am hoping it was a one year issue. It effected almost everyone of my old native trees and most of all the apples within 10 miles. Ironically still had a good apple crop except for the trees hit the hardest.

You'll probably have some limb dieback on those old trees. A few of mine have it from time to time and generate new growth. Cut out and burn the dead wood.

It generally only effected the ends of the branch, or last years new growth. No idea how I would cut off all those tips without making it worst. Hoping it will fix itself, any big branches that die and I will remove them.

NH is correct ^^^. FB can travel to other areas of the tree and it can kill the whole tree. I have a pear in my back yard that gets FB in various years. Sometimes it's only on new shoots, other times it affects more of a limb. When it affects limbs, I cut & burn the infected limb(s). FB on just the tips usually corrects itself. Like NH said - keep an eye on it.

I had 5 pear trees that were producing heavy then they got FB didn't produce the next year so i cut down and replaced,these were trophy pears from morse nursery
