Mozark

5 year old buck +
Was over by the lake this afternoon collecting some swamp white acorns. While I was driving around, I found this tree. It was planted here, not growing naturally. Acorns are large and pretty dark, similar to a chinkapin, I've never seen chink acorns near this big.20221001_154543_HDR.jpg20221001_154843_HDR.jpg

Looks like a swo from here. How different do the other trees that you collected from look from this tree?

The stem connecting the acorns is shorter and thicker. Swamp white left, this tree right20221001_175257_HDR.jpg

Interesting.
Could it be a chink x swo cross?

I just found this picture of a concordia.

Sounds like a great cross, if that's what it is.

If you think these can Handel zone five I would like some.

I got wild plum seeds, and boukoup scarlet oak seedlings I could ship bare root later this fall.

Was sitting here sipping coffee with the wife telling her about this and she already has a spot in the yard picked out for one.
