New soybean option for your resistant weeds

For those of you fighting resistant rag weed and waterhemp this might be an option. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use a pre emerge chemical in your bean plots if you already have resistant weeds so we dont burn this technology out right away. These beans should be out for 2019, but should really hit the market in 2020. There may be places in the country where weeds are already resistant to this technology.

https://www.agweb.com/article/china-approves-enlist-e3-soybeans/

"With this approval, farmers can plant Enlist E3 soybeans that include tolerances to 2,4-D choline, glyphosate and glufosinate. Herbicide options for Enlist E3 soybeans include Enlist Duo, a mix of glyphosate and 2,4-D choline, and Enlist One, a straight-goods 2,4-D choline option that can be tank mixed with approved herbicides."

Sounds good, wonder what the price tag on herbicide will be?

Can you expand on pre-emergent? The three chemicals listed seem to be post emergents. Though I'm not familar with 2-4,D choline.

Another tool in the toolbox. Now just need approval from Philippines. The pre-emergent can be laid down before planting or over the top after planting and before the crop seed emerges. It needs rain to activate, differing amounts depending on product. It's duty is to kill the tiny seedling weed plants as they try to grow towards the surface. Choose the right product for your target weeds and it's very effective.

I will let Darrin and Brian explain it.

I use a product called authority first (also called sonic) on my farm. Right after planting (before emergence) I spray 4oz per acre and 20 gallons of water. Imagine laying a blanket on the field that never lets the weeds germinate. It works very well. Best way to combat weeds is to never let them emerge. It needs a little rain to activate it. Last about 1 month. Then around week 5 after planting I go in and spray post emerge with another residual product and a burndown and weeds just never get a chance to get going.

Have you tried overseeding in August using Sonic?

And we officially have approval from the Philippines. This means this bean will now be widespread across the country, and I would bet by next year it will have more acres across the country than any other technology. This would be a great option for you guys doing food plots with RR resistant weeds. Should really cut into Bayer/Monsanto's acreage share.

It will help with some resistant weeds, for sure. But, my marestail laughs at 2,4-D unless you get it really small.

Do you put down a pre emerge chemical? I have yet to see anything that can thrive after 5 oz of Authority First. Best way to combat weeds in soybeans is to never let them emerge.
