New MN state record muskie

Caught in Mille Lacs. They tried to revive it for an hour but it was going to die. Old record came from Big Winnie 64 years ago. Many "potential state records" have been caught and released in recent years, but with this one's length of nearly 58" and girth of 29" it is indeed probably the biggest. Guy said it was his last fishing trip of the season, as the ramps were frozen before and after launching.

Freakin monster.

As a kid I wanted to grow up to be a musky guide on the big pond. It has really declined as a musky lake since then with the exception of top end monsters like this. Been a long time coming for the record to be a Mille lacs fish.

Not musky obviously but I went to Alaska to fly fish for pike. Some of the largest in the world. This was 49.5”. Couldn’t break 50 but my buddy did with a 51”
