My Pears

I have 3 varieties of pears bearing this year.

Kieffer

Luscious

Seckel

I also have a Potomac and a Blakes Pride that have not fruited yet and an Ayers in the nursery. I'm still unsure as to when to pick these pears for my own use. Anyone have advise as to when to pick these varieties? Can any be ate off the tree or do they need to "age" in a dark place to ripen?

Great looking pears. I like Kieffer when they fall, but they do develop a little more flavor given some more time. Back when we had no deer around here and people had big full sized trees everywhere, I've eaten many off the ground in the middle of winter.

Man I've got a ton of up and coming pears that should start producing in the next few years. Hopefully I'll soon be putting picks up as well!
