Thought I would stop in and say hi..

I live eat and breathe deer hunting and habitat management.

Currently live in GA but soon to move to NH due to a job promotion..
More then a little bummed as far as the deer hunting up that way but I will do what I can to be successful up there
It will be a real learning experience and will most likely take a trip or two to my favorite state of KY..

Look forward to chatting with you about hunting and deer and habitat management..

Welcome...wow, moving from GA to NH has to be both a culture and weather shock :D
Grew up in Northern MI but the wife was born and raised he in GA... I have been here 30+ years hope my blood isn't too thin now..lol

My blood isn't getting any thicker. 48 years in MN and I would not miss winter if I could avoid one.

Welcome aboard.

Going from Georgia Bulldog red to New Hampshire blue ........ as in no blood flow in winter !!!:D Welcome !!

Welcome Curtis,

The deer by the coast are more numerous but, it's harder to get land to hunt. In NH any unposted land is open to hunting but there are restrictions as to distances from houses. In the coast areas and larger cities there are smaller wood lots in between the houses that deer can be found in. The winters are usually (excluding last winter ) not nearly as bad on the coast.
You'll also be close to Maine. Southern Maine has a lot of big deer as well. No Sunday hunting.

If you go into the mountains of northern NH there are a lot less deer. Thousands of acres of national forest. Look for newer clear cuts. The bucks travel several miles during the rut and can be hard to pin point unless you're near a hot doe. I've had days of putting on 10 miles and not see a track. But if you find a pocket with a hot doe you could have 3-4 shooter bucks nearby.

When you headed north?

House closes on July 30th movers should be here on the 28th, as soon as they put the last box on the truck I am gonna hit the road.. So either the 28th or 29th am...
I notice the restrictions even apply to archery which is crazy, can I even shoot in my own back yard?

And thanks again for the heads up on this forum and the other two issues..

ACTUALLY A MICHIGAN WOLVERINE...GO BLUE!!

The good news for you is the NH archery season is 3 months long. When you buy your license make sure you purchase your second archery tag at that time. If you don't then you can't purchase it later in the season.
That sounds like a plan two tags for me two tags for the wife, next step will finding the right deer..lol

Welcome, not sure about the "go blue" comment lol, good luck on your move, go green.
