One thing I already like about it is that it keeps you away from the hornets. Some of the fruit I picked yesterday had hornet all over one pear but the pear next to it would be less ripe and not being touched by the bees - and just prime for picking. Bees would swarm when I would jerk off the good fruit but never be close to me. You can also just dump the fruit out on the ground in a clean spot and then gather it at the end of the picking.
Most of the fruit I pick is at home, but occasionally I want a few of something I see at the farm. I let the weeds and NWSGs grow up around lots of those trees during the summer, so it is going to be good for them too. I can drive up beside them and stand in the truck bed with the pole and get what I want. Might be better than meeting up with a copperhead while digging around in the grass.:D
