Issues with Walnut Trees and Apple Trees

I have several areas with walnut trees that I want to remove to replace with apple trees. I have killed these walnuts with garlon and plan to remove them. I know that walnuts give off jugalone which produce a toxicity to some plants.

What issues do these areas have for apple trees? How long before I could plant trees after walnut tree removal?

I would give it a 2-3 years within 50' of stumps. I learned the hard way, roots hurt my conifers and Chinese chestnuts planted to close too.
