Hired me a chainsaw operator

Native Hunter

5 year old buck +
Pros:

  • Works for free. Just loves being out with his son.
  • Only turning 84 next month. Still low mileage.
  • Doesn't believe in taking breaks and gets a lot done.
  • Thinks gun control means hitting what you are aiming at.
Cons:
  • Can't name a single person in Hollywood since John Wayne.
He helped me get rid of some junk trees where I will be putting in some more chestnuts and sawtooth oaks. We had a great day. Trees are ordered, and he will help with setting them too.

Great pic and great memories. Good for him for wearing hearing pro. Seems like every time I do chainsaw work with anybody over the age of 70 they kind of scoff at the idea.

Great picture!

I'm itching to start the cutting again.

We have made a lot of great memories together on this farm. I feel blessed every time we make more.

His hearing is one of the things that troubles him the most, and I’m also proud to see him doing everything he can to protect it.

That is awesome Native! Thanks for sharing the pic and memories you've made.

Thanks Willy. He was pretty sick back in November for a few weeks, so it's good to see him back on his feet doing the things he loves to do.

That is cool Native.....and besides....ain't been too many folks out of hollywood since John Wayne that are worth knowing about any ways!

Thanks J-bird and I totally agree on Hollywood.

I'm hoping that is me sometime down the road with my kid :emoji_thumbsup::emoji_thumbsup::emoji_thumbsup::emoji_thumbsup::emoji_thumbsup::emoji_thumbsup::emoji_thumbsup::emoji_thumbsup:

Glad he wanted to lend a hand. Your dad could probably beat the tar out of any actor in Hollywood (that's if he needed to).

Great pic!!! Dad looks to be right in his element! Great that you 2 can share good times like that. Enjoy every minute. Tell Dad we said hello and best wishes!! Mom too!!

We should all be so lucky. I don't need to tell you this, I know you already know it.. appreciate each day together, especially doing doing what you both love together. Lol... get you dad on this forum, I bet he has a lot to say!!

I tried once to get him interested in computers but he lost interest after a while. However, if he did get on the forum he would talk most about coyote hunting and loading for his rifles. He quit deer hunting a few years ago but no coyote is safe if he can get off a shot.

Have you seen Salma Hayek???

I agree with AJ about time spent with Dad. I wish mine could have lived longer so much of what I do at camp could have been shared experiences. And Pop was a great cook of breakfasts. He'd have loved cooking those at camp. Planting anything for habitat too. He gardened all his life for family veggies, but he loved planting trees too. Pop's the reason I got started hunting & fishing. He was a real outdoorsman.

Enjoy every minute with Dad Native. Let him know we on here love the fact that he's out there enjoying the outdoors and smokin' yotes !! Give him a handshake from me.

I will do that Bows and thanks. I also have a great update:

We Cleaned out a long fence row of junk trees and several other places within the tree planting that needed attention. We also stacked brush and then Friday began setting 20 new Chestnut Trees and 20 new Sawtooth Oak trees. We put in two hard days of work and another half day on Saturday - getting finished just before the storms rolled in. It was a heck of a workout for both of us. I talked to him this morning, and he is telling me about how good it was to be out doing all of that work. He said, "I thought I might be sore, but I wasn't...." He is ready for another workout as soon as we can get out again.

Can’t beat those DR mowers either. Maybe someday we’ll all be lucky enough to have our children excited about their 82 year old dad out working in the field with them.
