I bought the 140 acres near New Hampton Missouri. Got permission to put up a few stands 2 weeks ago. There are a lot of deer in Missouri.

Closed on the property at Noon on Friday. . Hit stand about 4pm saw my first 4 deer at 5pm. 5 more yards and would have had a shot. Half hour later, 2 does went around me out of range. 6 pm doe, fawn and a doe came by. Shot the last doe.

Now, here is where I am disappointed

I just don't think it should have taken 6 hours from buying a property to shoot the first deer. Way too long.

Did I mention there are fish in the ponds? Took me 4 casts to catch my first fish, that was outrageous also.

4 years ago when we were done hunting our land across the gravel to the south one night, we saw one of the biggest bucks on hoof I have ever seen. It came running behind a doe out of your new property and into ours right past the truck. You are in a great area and now have a great piece of property. One thing I would do is stop shooting doe's until you get a handle on how many doe groups you have on that farm. And what each doe is doing. In Missouri, you may shoot the matriarch doe and the rest will be lost for a season. Its almost strange that in some areas, one doe will rule the farm. I would sit back for a season and watch what is going on with your deer. You want the old doe's around to come into heat first, they will attract a lot of bucks in the area. You have some good habitat on that farm, that can be made to be unreal in just a short amount of time with a little work. A 160" buck was rattled in and killed right NW of your place last year. They are there, and you are in the middle of them. Good Luck and welcome to NW Missouri!

If he bought the 140 to the north to the of our 105 acres. Then We have a chunk to the south. There was a 140 north of New Hampton, maybe he bought that one?
