I noticed quite a bit of this stuff around the property this week. Can anyone tell what it is? I'm leaning towards something maybe in the elder family or dogwood?

It does resemble some of the dogwoods I walked past this evening, except the structure of the flower clusters?

I wonder if they're chokecherry? The leaves and fruit arrangement look similar.

I really need to spend some time in the woods when it's butt hot and start identifying some of these things.

I was thumbing through my trees and shrubs of MN book from the UofM. I combed through about a third of that book, and that's what jumped off the page at me. Fine serrated leaf edges, and the blossom arrangement fits chokecherry.

***side note. That wild card cherry we found at my brother's place last year seems like a pin cherry. The hitch was finding a cherry that grew in clusters and could persist into fall.
