Hazelnuts and Japanese Beetles

Haus

5 year old buck +
Do hazelnuts get hit hard by Japanese beetles? I live an hour from the farm and need to find low maintenance options. Thanks!

I've never seen Japs bother hazelnut leaves, but that's at a location where lots of other stuff is available.

I'm not certain, but I did check out a hazelnut naturally growing on my place yesterday. It was clean.

YES!
They hit mine before anything else. First jap beetle I see on them I spray them with Sevin and it's a non-issue. You could just preemptive spray first week of June and forget about it.
Hazelnuts are crazy hardy, I wouldn't let the beetles keep you from planting them they will grow new leaves if you miss a spraying. They have to be my favorite shrub, benefit to all types of wildlife and are almost bullet proof easy to grow.
