I have a chestnut tree, that the idiot tree trimmers for the power company mistakenly cut down. It stump sprouted last year so I caged it. I recently noticed the farm down the road from me has a producing chestnut. I thought about stopping and asking them if I could snip a few scion off and try grafting them onto the stump or onto the sprouts. Which would be better? Try to graft on to it or just pick out a sprout and let it grow? I've never grafted anything before so take that into consideration too.
