Early morning marsh buck

Tree Spud

5 year old buck +
Well after 100 hours in the stand this fall finally connected. Have been sitting in tight cover and on food plots without much success. Decided to sit in one of my marsh stands for a change in scenery and hopefully change my luck.

This guy came by me early walking the dike edge periodically lifting his nose checking for bedding does. At 6:45 am he move into a shooting opening and I had my opportunity. I grunted twice to stop him and he gave me a good clean broadside shot. One shot at about 90 yards and both lungs hit. Went about 30 yards an piled up. Glad to have my nephew and cousin along to help drag him out.

Was 21.5" wide, with 9.5" G2's. Was 205 lbs filed dressed.

A good morning hunt ...

Congrats Tree Spud. Great looking buck, and great looking habitat.

Top notch, Spudder!

Congrats. THat payoff after all those hours on stand is so much more rewarding than rolling out and killing one early. Well done.

Nice buck ! Fun to hunt the swamp !

Different than hunting thick cover woods, lots of glassing to catch some movement in the marsh.
