I am planting potted fruit trees both apple and pear some of which are up to eight foot tall.. they are ilthree and a half gallon size. Is it okay to cut back this time of year or am I better off waiting for fall. Thanks

Avoid cutting back during wet weather to avoid bacterial infections.
I also avoid planting potted trees until they are dormant. It is easy to damage roots when then tree is not dormant.
Why are you planting potted trees in the summer?

I've planted about a thousand trees since April and since these are on clearance I figure I can keep them watered since I have maintenance to do anyway
