Cherries

Don't know much about cherries, can I just plant a single tree? Can anyone recommend a cherry tree that is offered by Adams county nursery?

You will want to check on the individual variety pages. They do not offer all varieties every year and of those they do offer they tend to sell out relatively quickly.

Tart cherries are self fertile, sweet cherries are not.

We have a couple cherry trees in our yard. Be prepared to net them when their fruit are ripening. At least in our yard, robins will strip them bare in less than a days time once the cherries are ready. Those cherries are like crack to them, or I guess in today's world it is like heroine to them.

I put four cherry trees out last spring, keep an eye out for the jap beetles too...they love cherry leaves.
