Bumper Year for Poison Ivy?

Yearling... With promise
It's looking to be a big bumper year for poison ivy in SE Texas this year.

I'm finding it everywhere - all over my neighborhood in inner city Houston, growing out of people's flower beds, on their fences, and in the ditches. On our ranch in E. Texas, it seems like I can't take a step without ID'ing an ivy plant -- whether its mowed pasture, pine savannah, or hardwood bottoms. Last saw this level about 5 years ago.

Anyone else seeing this? Any thoughts on what environmental conditions would cause the ivy to just explode one year and then fall back for a few years?

Thanks!

I'm not sure why you are seeing so much, but your deer will certainly enjoy eating it.

True, but I suspect they won't touch it until they've gotten through all of the greenbriar. That stuff is deer candy, and there's a lot more of it :)
