Bucket List Trail Camera Capture - Alligator Bellowing!

Posting a true bucket list trail camera capture today. This one shares the prehistoric sounds of a wild male alligator bellowing his mating call along the edge of a pond I share with two neighbors. With modern alligators existing much in the same form for the past 8 million years and with crocodilian ancestors dating back to 200 million years ago I believe the sound is fairly labeled as prehistoric! By comparison, archaic man's only around for 300 thousand years or so.

Watch closely and you'll see the call appears to work too, as a second set of eyes appear in the final seconds of the video... not sure if he called in a mate or foe, but he DID get some attention! 👍

That is cool as heck. I hear them bellowing while I am standing on my back deck. A little early here - but about time. We live on a ridge about 100 feet above the bottoms. During breeding season, not uncommon for gators to be up on the ridge. I have had them in my pastures walking around bellowing at night while I have been out thermal hunting. Eerie sound at night - for sure
