Anyone own a tree spade

Between these 2, not much you can't remove ...

King of Spades

Root Assassin

Yeah but that tree spade wouldn’t hurt the back as bad. I almost bought one just to transplant big cedars around on my farm. Couldn’t really justify it though.

C'mon Bill ... as you know it is all about lessening brute force vs mechanical efficiency ... we can never own too many tools :emoji_wink:

I’ve been using my excavator with a 30” bucket to move spruce trees up to about 7’ feet tall. Take a bucket full out where I want the tree to go and try to get about the same size scoop when I grab the tree I’m relocating. I’m pretty good at getting the same size scoop with the bucket and that makes it a lot easier to just drop it in and it fits with very little shovel work. I planted 200 little seedlings in my back yard and move some out each year as they get crowded. Probably the last year to move anymore because they are getting too big for my equipment.

I have a king of spades and dang I am too old to move more than several trees with it.I have about 200 oaks that are 4ft tall and about that many cedars the same size so they would be nice to move.Worse part is loading tractor are driving the 2 miles to the farm from where my cedars are

They also sell the narrow spade diggers for front of tractor or skid steer and they would work for digging cedars most of the time but I haven't tried using one
