Thoughts on culling bucks with poor genetic potential.

This - It is virtually impossible to influence the genetics in a wild, free ranging deer here. As others have mentioned, you really have no idea what that buck will develop into until at least age 3 or more likely 4. If he still looks like that when he is a 4 year old, go ahead an whack...

Repair Lockout Hub on Land Pride/Great Plains No-Till Drill

I mentioned above that I found a 3/16 X 1 1/2" roll pin but it was really too short to be able to get a good grip on it... Finally I found some 3/16" X 2" stainless roll pins at Ace Hardware and they are just what the Dr ordered so I bought 3 of them. Yes, a bent nail will work if you have one...

    Lithium camera batteries AA. Ouch!!

Do you test the batteries on a volt meter when you install them in your cameras? The energizer lithiums almost always test out at 1.77 or 1.78 V on new batteries. If they don't then something is amiss.

    Lithium camera batteries AA. Ouch!!

I am not a Sam's Club member but a friend of mine is. He ordered 4 - 18 packs of AA Energizer Lithiums for me. With 6% sales tax it came to $148.32 - $2.06 each and free shipping. That is the best price I was able to find but it is what it is. They are the best camera batteries out there...

How do you really know how old that deer is…

Agree homerj - I would have estimated him to be at least 4 or 5 also. He is a full grown brute…with probably less than stellar antlers. Still - a very mature deer.

Green cover summer release and fall release pics.

Yes - It depends upon the application rate. Generally speaking 2 weeks if you applied 2-4,D at 1 Pint per acre or 4 weeks if you applied at 1 Quart per acre.

I didn't want to wait 2-4 weeks afterwards before I could plant.

In a nutshell....it was disappointing WJ. Not that I believe that the Glufosinate didn't do its job, but in the sense that under the circumstances I used it in - it was at a distinct disadvantage. If you recall, I used the Glufosinate where I had great plots of alfalfa/clover which had been...

    Any harm in drilling now?

Not really. My soil is a clay/loam soil which can get semi "hard" when dry. I also have a lot of rocks in it, although I do try to get as many of them out as I can when opening up new plots. The rocks just about demolished my first disc when I was still turning dirt, but when planting with my...
