Time to lighten up - Laughter is good medicine Part II

It took me a while to figure it out, but I believe that is Denise Frazier. Let's just say that she likes her lovers a little on hairy side.

    Fish structures

I have the 5 gallon buckets in the deep areas and these in the shallow end. Very easy to make. Also, it has been scientifically proven that you have to use red and blue tubing for the most effective fish habitat. I can provide the peer reviewed science if needed.

Spirits in the Woods ... Anyone else experience these?

In addition to welding the doors shut, they used duct tape also? They must have been really serious about keeping the spirits in the car.

    Invasives to Natives

You really should contact a professional to come out, walk your property, and discuss your goals with you. You could hire someone or check with the NRCS or state agency and they might do it for free. While 15 acres is not huge, it is a lot of land where things can quickly get out of hand...

    Saw this in the news

That is crazy. Glad he got in before it hit. Reminds me of an accident that happened about 20 miles from me a few years ago. A college student was getting back into her car after stopping at a rest stop. An 18-wheeler heading west bound lost a couple of tires that rolled several hundred yards...

Soil is pH 7.3 , soil is heavy almost clay, it floods due to irrigation. What oak to plant.

That sounds like less than ideal conditions for an oak. Are there native oaks nearby growing in similar conditions? If so, I would plant those. If not, I would think about another tree species that can provide deer sustenance and can thrive in those conditions.

My 11 year old Hog Killing

Your son "did you miss?" 😄

    Ouch!!!!

As long as the roots were kept moist, they should be fine. Hopefully you can get them planted soon. Good luck with them.

.....You might be a habitat guy

I have to laugh at this. I probably have 35-40 five gallon buckets and I have never bought a single bucket. I also have kitty litter buckets, 1 gallon, 2 gallon, 3 gallon, and square mayonnaise buckets. You name the bucket and I have one. I always have a need for one. I shake my head when I walk...

    Bad Azz Stump Puller

I wonder what the rental rate would be on that setup per day? Of course, if you have to ask, you probably cannot afford it.

    First Bluebirds of the Year

Funny you should mention flying squirrels. I cleaned out a box two years ago and there were about 30 acorns in the box along with nesting material. This past year I noticed that the entrance hole had been enlarged. I took the front off to clean out the box and to replace the front piece. I...

    Fruit Trees Starting to Bloom

My Anna apple in south Mississippi is fully leafed out and blooming. It always blooms in February. It got hit hard in the freeze last March. I have had this tree for over 10 years in my backyard and have been unable to find a pollinator that will bloom in February when it blooms. A good...

    Floating island for muscovy ducks

A lot of fishermen around my area fish for tripletail in coastal waters by building fish aggregating devices (FADs) because the tripletail love floating structure. I saw this FAD washed up last year on an island. It is simply a 24x30" bread tray with foam. The tray sits upside down in the water...

    Floating island for muscovy ducks

How big do you want it? Do you want an island for them to rest and nest on or just something for them to rest on out of the water? If just something for them to get out of the water, they make floating animals that would serve this purpose. A park in Phoenix installed some alligators and hippos...

    Persimmon from seed, options?

What species of oak were you trying to plant? I would think that you should be trying bur, chinquapin, post, and maybe Mexican white oak. These trees are adapted to the dry climate. I would suggest against air pruning pots. I understand the benefits, but a big, fibrous root system that sits in...
