    Christmas Tree Box Blind

Wanted to share! I have a box blind that sticks out like a sore thumb at the edge of my food plot. I can't move the blind (its built into the tree next to it to keep it from sinking in the mud, my property is really wet). So, I did both short term and long term screening options in front of the...

Swampy 21 Acres SW Michigan - Land Tour/2020 Plan

Well, got all the food plots in! Did a modified no-till method: Spray, broadcast, weedwack dead stuff down on seeds for a mulch layer. Main Food plot - Northwoods Sweet Feast Brassica Blend. Will overseed winter rye in September Horse Shoe Food Plot Trail - Plotspike Clover. Will overseed...

Got another stand setup! Between location and access, I think this may be my best stand this year. Lemme know what ya think!

I've done a little bit of both. I've had good luck with the Plotspike Clover from Tractor Supply ($16 for a 4lb bag). I've also bought bulk seed from Family Farm and Home which isn't too bad. I really like www.deerseeds.com, there clover/chicory mix works well and is priced well. There is also a...

Swampy 21 Acres SW Michigan - Land Tour/2020 Plan

Got another stand setup finished the other day. Really excited about this one. Low impact, easy access. I created a little "horse-shoe" shape food plot trail (not yet planted) that starts and ends at my main food plot. Where the trail turns, I setup a Jeff Sturgis vine licking branch/mock...

Swampy 21 Acres SW Michigan - Land Tour/2020 Plan

Alright, starting to setup my stands/trails/mock scrapes. Here's the game plan for my North property line. Essentially, i'm trying to pull deer into my property from my west swamp transition line by offering a small trail off the mail travel corridor, mock scrape, micro food plot, then another...

Swampy 21 Acres SW Michigan - Land Tour/2020 Plan

Alright, wrapped up (for the most part) all of the hinge cutting along my transition line. Overall, I'm really happy with it. Before, during and after working on the last section, I found 10-12 beds without trying very hard. Granted I know its still spring/summer and a lot can change in the...

Yes, I guess? My computer came with all the Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Etc on it. You could try Open Office, I think you can still download that for free. Should have similar features.

I just used Microsoft Word to create that map. Put an image into word, then select INSERT - SHAPES - SCRIBBLE. You can draw on your photo, change the outlines and fill, etc. Easier to delete/modify features too compared to paint.

Swampy 21 Acres SW Michigan - Land Tour/2020 Plan

Keep the suggestions coming my friend! The south/southeast quadrant is pretty wet (need hip waders to get into that southern most stand). I don't actually have a stand there yet, but i marked an area where it gets drier and there's a nice trail moving through the swamp. I could try to make a...

Swampy 21 Acres SW Michigan - Land Tour/2020 Plan

That little food plot finger you drew, I've actually been thinking about that right where you drew it. I have an area right there that would be easy to make that. You're right as well with getting up high into the crotch of that tree...I could do that. I think from an in the tree standpoint, I...

Swampy 21 Acres SW Michigan - Land Tour/2020 Plan

Totally agree. Planting spruces might be tough there, just because of how wet it is. But, I do have a bunch of willow cuttings planted right in front of it and so far they are doing well, almost all of them have leavings and little shoots growing. Moving it...that would be a challenge. I agree...
