The company bags soil mixes like you buy at Lowe’s. The rice hulls are mixed in some soils for multiple reasons. PH neutral, aeration, moisture retention amongst other things. You can also buy rice hulls at places that sell home brewing supplies.
Interesting. I was told by the Bee & Butterfly Habitat fund that the reason they use rice hulls is because their cup shaped and it makes it difficult for the seed to separate. I have a place by me that sells 50 pound bags of compressed rice hulls for $30. I use rice hulls for all small seeds.
Red Fuji (late drop) starts becoming ripe around Halloween in south Central Michigan would be my number one choice. Enterprise, Cripps pink lady, gold rush and pixie crunch would also be solid choices in my opinion.
B. It takes 100+ years to grow oaks of that diameter. It’s the only thing I couldn’t reproduce on the other properties. I would think I could carve out a wildlife paradise starting with 80 acres of Oaks that size.
All varieties were planted on 5-24-24. Broadcasted at 1.5 bags per acre. Managers mix and enlist ag produced good pods. Here’s the pictures of all the fields.
