    Heat check…land prices

I wish prices would come down around here. Anything within 3 hours of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex is still climbing. The area just has too many transplants with California money driving up prices. I am utterly astounded by prices in the area I grew up these days. Prices are so high, I won’t...

Not surprised even a little bit but pretty pissed

My company doesn’t compensate me for days pulled for jury duty… and the state pays basically nothing, $60 a day. Unless someone is willing to personally compensate me for the lost income, or pay the bills it causes me to miss, then they have no place judging my desire to get out of it. Sent...

Are the glory days of deer hunting coming to a close?

I just had to block Matt on the old forum. I used to be a lot more active back then, and he was just impossible to have discourse with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you really think that Matnic has it in him to remain civil or to consider someone else’s perspective….? I don’t think that level of humility remains in him. (If it ever did) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My move for jury duty has always been to ask “is capital punishment an option for misdemeanors?” Works like a charm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Crossbows as we age....

As to the “crossbow” conversation… I think if someone is fit and healthy, they should be restricted to a vertical bow. If someone has had an injury, or has reached an age where they can’t reliably draw a bow… we should ABSOLUTELY accommodate them with the crossbow. Some of the older “disability”...

    Crossbows as we age....

My buddy smoked the shoulder of the last sow I killed for his Super Bowl party… it was delicious. Just know that there is no medium rare for wild pork… hit proper temps, and you are fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Safari sling? Stalker sling?

I picked up a couple of these cross body slings a couple years ago for backpacking hunts. I love them. If you are traveling any long distance, having the rifle stay fully upright, and never slipping off your shoulder, is invaluable. https://a.co/d/0fkV7cJi Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Crossbows as we age....

We have more than enough pigs around here to scratch that night hunting itch. It gets REAL fun when you add thermal optics in. Thermal night hunting with a good AR is about the only real way to remove enough pigs to affect the surrounding population… unless you hire professional trappers...

What does everyone have for rotary cutter/mowers (Bush Hog)?

    Trapping deer with a helicopter

Excellent description. The change is absolutely possible across generations without transporting animals…. But a healthy doe can drop fawns for as long as 15 years according to some senescence studies. That means that any “less than desirable” epigenetics she had at her birth will affect fawns...

What does everyone have for rotary cutter/mowers (Bush Hog)?

We darn near wore out their 35hp. Our ground is FAR too hard for a tractor of that small of a size to handle it. We have what we call “black gumbo” clay. When wet, it is so sticky that it will entirely fill a wheel well from sticking to your tire. When dry, you need a jackhammer to dig a hole...

    Trapping deer with a helicopter

It is drastically different than “healthy and fit” much of that epigenetics is set in stone when the doe conceives the fawn. “Healthy and fit” implies results possible from improving diet and environment. That can not be done with epigenetics after the fawn is born. Sent from my iPhone using...

    Trapping deer with a helicopter

Epigenetics are pretty wild. Mammal mothers that have had access to higher nutrition for the entirety of their lives pass on genes that “turn on” for their offspring that they themselves didn’t have. When this happens over multiple generations, the difference in genetic expression can be pretty...

What does everyone have for rotary cutter/mowers (Bush Hog)?

My parents picked up a 12’ batwing. I haven’t gotten to do any mowing with it yet, but it should be a welcome addition to the 75hp tractor they upgraded to this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
