    Growing fruit trees faster?

Nitrogen increases tender, vegetative growth. Tender, vegetative growth is more susceptible to fireblight.

If you have a pear variety already and want more of that variety, just graft some.

    Mouse proof long term guard

I would guess that voles and rabbits/hares do the vast majority of damage to fruit tree roots/trunks.

Pocket gophers will raise hell with fruit tree roots. Lined ground squirrels can do some damage, but they aren't as bad to deal with as pocket gophers. http://www.minnesotaseasons.com/Mammals/plains_pocket_gopher.html https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/mammals/thirteenlinedgroundsquirrel.html

White cedars may appear to have stump sprouted due to their naturally having multiple "trunks". I've never seen one actually stump sprout.

Really sandy soil- where to start??

If it's fracking sand, I'll be amazed if you get anything to grow without getting down to the native soil

Really sandy soil- where to start??

Korean/Kobe lespedeza will grow on sand where few other legumes will grow.

Really sandy soil- where to start??

If there's nothing growing there now, that's a pretty good clue as to what will grow there in the future. Unless there's a bunch of much better soil under that sand I wouldn't waste my time trying to grow a foodplot there. Plant pines and pray for rain.
