    Can't have nothing

That makes me feel bad for complaining about my troubles.

Thank you. Your numbers are about what I expected. Maybe 2027 will be my year.

    Can't have nothing

SW Indiana here. About half my pears have started to flower. None of those flowers have opened. Any chance whatsoever those unopened flowers survive 40-48 hours at, or well below, freezing? This was the first year I expected a decent pear crop.

What trees are you planting spring 2026 ?

After this Spring I plan to be done planting trees. Hoping 2026 will be the year I start seeing some meaningful fruit output from crabs, pears and (maybe?) the apples I planted in 2022 and 2023. Blue Hill: 2 Deer Magnet Persimmon, 1 Buckman Crab and 1 Grams Gift Crab. Indiana DNR: 100 Bur...

Persimmons fruiting every 2nd or 3rd year?

Wide open sun. I opened up the canopy shortly after I bought the property before planting grafted females nearby.

Persimmons fruiting every 2nd or 3rd year?

Southwest Indiana here. How common is it for native persimmon trees to skip one or even two years between fruit crops? Most of the trees on my property seem to be very irregular. Is there anything I can do to promote annual fruiting?

    Bluehill 2025

That surprises me. I received 2 pears, 3 crabs and 2 grafted 'simmons that all had large root systems. I had to dig substantially bigger holes than anticipated. FYI: Pears and crabs seem to be booming despite two heavy frosts right at bud break. Fulldraw Persimmons have yet to break bud...

    Rut Rage Pear Tree

That's impressive fruiting. Any concerns that so much fruiting will retard tree growth if nascent pears aren't thinned early? I'm still very new to the pear game.

    Bluehill 2025

I'm too inexperienced to say if it was drought, aphids, disease or a combination. I improved my irrigation setup to eliminate watering as a factor going forward. So far, they seem to be bouncing back. The learning curve has been steep, but I'm slowly making progress.

    Bluehill 2025

Kieffer pear and Gram's Gift crab planted March 2024 are neck and neck for most growth after one year in the ground. Both have budded nicely over the last week. I'm thinking GG is going to live up to its hype. Neither Rifle Deer nor Winter Deer pears put on any appreciable growth in 2024. Both...

    More nursery persimmons and pear

Both as dead as dead can be. One has already been replaced by a thriving BH Kieffer. BH Advent should be arriving next week to fill the other vacancy. I'll not buy from Morse again.

Sweet advent pear tree not looking so hot.

What was the final outcome, Gmule82?

    More nursery persimmons and pear

In late February I picked up two 3yr old Hybrid pears from Morse's West Lafayette facility. I was very disappointed by the root systems of both trees., Both were planted the next day. One has since started to bud and seems to be progressing. The other has remained dormant. It looks...

I see more Blue Hill crabs in my future.

    Mine still hanging

How old are the Winter Crabarina and Primetime in your posts? I'm really psyched to plant my first Blue Hill trees come March.
