    Bear Damage

Pretty much every time I head up to camp in September and October I'm dealing with new limbs snapped on my fruit trees. Could be bears, could be raccoons (caught 2 in this orchard last weekend). Either way, it's super annoying. They especially target one particular orchard. Every single one of...

    Fall bare root planting???

Are you guys waiting until dormancy to plant in the fall? Or can I plant anytime? I have some grafted trees from this spring that I would like to get in the ground this year, but they are still holding leaves.

    Migrant Fruit Pickers

Just put my trail cameras out last Saturday. Had my first bear on camera in less than 36 hours. Another one on camera 12 hours later. Between bears and coons I dont know how I'm ever going to get fruit to the deer.

    Red Milo

First year planting red milo. First plot was planted July 6. That is doing decent. Second plot planted 2 weeks later, doing okay, not much rain since planting. Third plot planted a week ago, havent been up to check but also no rain. I fear I planted too late for the 2nd and 3rd plantings...

    Rut Rage Pear Tree

No. My pear trees are still pretty young (3rd growing season I believe). The majority of them had blossoms but fruit never materialized.

    Chestnut Crab

I have a couple Kerr but wasn’t able to get any scion from them this spring. My topworking has had good graft success, but not good growth. I think I’m leaving too many nurse branches that are taking up all the nutrients.

    Chestnut Crab

This thread has me really wishing I had planted more Trailman and Chestnut. Currently only have 1 of each, both young and not yet producing. I did graft a few Trailman this past spring. I will probably topwork a few trees next year with Chesnut.

    Bluehill 2025

I will probably hold off on ordering this year, although some of those new varieties look tempting! I exchanged scion with Ryan last spring and was able to get a few varieties that I had yet to order - Sweet Dog, Yates, and Candy Crab. Had some issues getting the Yates scion to take, but for the...

    Miscanthus giganteus transplanting

For those that have planted miscanthus, have you had any that are slow to wake up? I seem to have at least 25% that havent sent a stalk out yet. Worried they are going to sit in the ground and rot.

    Bluehill 2025

Ryan posted on FB that select trees are now on sale for $20. The prices still reflect the original pricing until you add them to cart then they update to $20. It does look like there is a 4 tree minimum. Unfortunately, $56 in shipping for me will keep me from ordering any more.

    Death Wish

Ordered 2 this spring. Very healthy and nearly 6ft tall.

    Bluehill 2025

By my count, he has around 1,978 pear trees left in stock. It's very tempting, but unless he runs a sale I probably will hold off. I'm still not sure how pears are going to do at my camp (zone 5a, formerly 4b) and I'm hesitant to add more until I have a better idea.

    Rut Rage Pear Tree

My Rut Rage was the biggest tree I've ever received from either Whitetail Crabs or Blue Hill. Thing must have been nearly an inch in diameter and 7' tall. It's probably close to 9-10 ft now after two year (my clay soils arent super conducive to fast growth). Flowers got frosted last year but I'm...

    Whitetail Crabs Shipping 2025

Received my order today after getting the initial shipping notice on Thursday. I always hate when they get shipped over the weekend. They inevitably sit in a warehouse or potentially hot truck for a day or two. I met the UPS delivery driver and took the box right to my hose for a drink. The...
