    Crabapple timeline

Looks similar to my mexican plums. They dont sucker and form more like a tree rather than a shrub. Mine are close to being ripe, but need a little more time. Speaking of fruits that grow well in the deep south, @SwampCat look into planting some plums if you havent yet.

Trying a couple of aeschynomene/Alyce clover plots.

Alyce Clover has impressed me. It took some time to put on growth, but in the last month or so it has shot up. Deer Vetch has not grown as good and I'm sure it is because of my sandy soil and the deep south heat.

Native to the US crabapple trees

I have bought a good bit of trees from them in the past and all have done well. I had a couple not make it, but I think it was more the location I planted them in than the tree. Just keep in mind that it will be a seedling. I dont think they have any grafted varieties. From the crabs I got from...

    Fruit trees for Spring 2023

My GCs have put on a lot of growth as well. Gonna be hard to keep them trained, a lot of limbs competing to be the central leader.

    The great value in topworking

Callery I topworked to Keiffer 2 years ago. It is almost fully healed, hoping that will take place this year.

    Fruit Tree He11 Has Started

Have you had any problems with ambrosia beetles, Swamp? They are the toughest problem to fight for me currently.

    What killing my chestnuts?

I've had a time with ambrosia beetles. They target mulberries and chestnuts at my place. They've killed a few of mine, but they have always came back with suckers. I have one chestnut that was hit this past spring. It is a decent size and managed to leaf out, but the leaves never got to full...

    Persimmion age

I planted 8 common persimmons back in 2019 and so far 3 are males. I'm hoping with how long it is taking for the other 5 to flower that they will be females. Anyone have any experience with this hopeful theory of mine? 😂

Trying a couple of aeschynomene/Alyce clover plots.

............. but what about basketball and baseball?????? Hail State!!!! 😂 In all seriousness, idk how I missed this thread. Trying alyce clover and joint vetch for the first time this year. Hoping they'll do good in my sandy soil. After reading yall's posts of joint vetch liking wetter soils...

How Close Can You Plant A Tree To A Stump?

I've planted close to many pine stumps after they were thinned and have had no problems. A pine stump could be totally different than a hardwood stump due to the root system though. I would think over time the stump/roots would be free fertilizer once it's fully rotted and broken down.

Black Mulberry & Home Orchard Pear Varieties

I don't. They will bore the trunk of the tree leaving "dust tunnels" behind (best I can explain it).

Black Mulberry & Home Orchard Pear Varieties

I've had a time with ambrosia beetles attacking my mulberry trees. Anyone having this problem too?

Two topworked Callery Pears after one year

This graft has produced flowers this year (which is nuts considering I grafted this just 2 years ago). Would you guys nip the flowers off this year or leave them?
