I've planted close to many pine stumps after they were thinned and have had no problems. A pine stump could be totally different than a hardwood stump due to the root system though. I would think over time the stump/roots would be free fertilizer once it's fully rotted and broken down.
This graft has produced flowers this year (which is nuts considering I grafted this just 2 years ago). Would you guys nip the flowers off this year or leave them?
I planted 5 chickasaw plums in 2019 and some just started suckering about a year or 2 ago. A thicket has not formed just yet, but it's getting there! Not sure on how far apart they are, but I'd say 4-5 feet. I would definitely try to protect them until they are established. I have deer nipping...

In all seriousness, I've had trouble finding a legume to do well in my summer plots. Best I can come up with is sunnhemp and cowpeas. Honestly just looking for something to produce organic matter and something to cover seed for my fall plots. I have plenty of food for wildlife...
