Wildlife Group-AU Buck Chestnuts

Anyone done business with the Wildlife Group?? I’ve been trying to order some AU Buck chestnuts but these people don’t seem interested in taking an order. I’ve called three times in the last two weeks. All I ever get is the run around about their website or catalog or something not working. Their website states they will take phone orders that has not been my experience. Anyone know of a different nursery that carries the AU Buck chestnut trees? I’m growing tired of dealing with these folks.

Online orders closed for the season according to their website. I think they do open some time in October if I remember correctly. I ordered a few apples and pears from them in 2019, no issues.

First time I called they said they will take orders October 1st so I called October 1st then they said Monday October 4th now they say maybe Friday October 8th. Every time I call I think don’t these people own a pen and paper to take my order their website clearly states they take phone orders who cares if their web ordering is down!!! I’m convinced we have moved into the age of “Idiocracy” for those of you that have never seen this movie it’s really really bad but with the current state of decay in the USA it pretty accurate. In fact I think the President in the movie could give creapy uncle Joe a run for his money on running this place.

Has anyone purchased and planted any of their persimmons? I'm really trying to track down some decent trees.

My father ordered 3 packages from them 2 years ago. I think 25 or so trees in total. Pears, plums, persimmons, and the AU buck IV package.

The trees on the grafted chestnuts are definitely small, and require pampering for at least the first year. But, the only trees he had not make were some persimmons that were in an area too sandy to hold moisture. Last years summer heat got them.

They are reputable growers with access to some excellent genetics in the chestnut and soft mast categories.

For anything you aren’t looking at needing known drop times, I would look at Mossy Oak Native Nurseries (https://www.nativnurseries.com) for anything you want to plant in bulk.

Well it looks like they have their website working now I finally got my order in. I ordered the AU Buck package and a seedling Chinese chestnut package. I’m thinking I’ll plant the seedlings at the farm and the grafted at the house so I can baby them.

Does anyone have these trees producing? What are the drop times for your location? Have any nuts to trade? Just looking for about 25/1 lb.

Mine are not producing they did put on some pretty good growth for a drought year.

With the really poor chestnut harvest this year, I suspect chestnut seedling trees to be more expensive next year. The areas that are typically great sources for seed have limited supply this fall. Route 9 Cooperative has none available. Burnt Ridge has limited availability. Chestnut ridge of Pike County does show some as "coming soon", but I am not holding my breath.

Just thought I would share some observations from my online shopping.

Is this an answer to a question someone asked? Or just a general resource?
