Who are you?

I live in Perry now. Before that, Roberta.
I spent 2 summers working a summer job in Perry in high school. Hunted near Gray in high school as well. Currently have the property outside of Lexington, so north of you.

Welcome to the club Jill, Chuck and Zilla! It is an addiction, but at least it is a healthy one with food benefits :)

So you’re well acquainted with gnats, heat, and high humidity.

Been here most of my life and still hate some things that go with living here.

Welcome Nightvision!

"I’m 53 with a wife and one son. We go to church, hunt and fish. Son is in ROTC with plans to be a pilot in the military."

Congrats to your son!

My son just graduated from Penn State's ROTC program and is going to Fort Rucker in January to be a helicopter pilot.
I'm new here, joined with Cuddelink issues, looking through site found this. I'm retired Army pilot, maintenance test pilot, and logistics officer. Wish your son best of luck. Tell him to pay as much attention to the machine as the flying. Tactical flight is a rush, as intense as NASCAR, and complicated by weather, terrain, dark nights, and bad guys. Listen carefully to the old guys. Major J

Welcome Jon.

Thank you for service.

Thanks. What did you fly?

Welcome Jon and thanks!

New Guy Here,

Just completed the purchase of some hunting/recreation/farm land in the Brainerd area of Minnesota. Looking forward to spending time on the farm in retirement with a focus on hunting but also not losing focus on just enjoying the outdoors. I joined this site to meet like minded people and learn "all things habitat". As I begin designing the property, it will be great to get everyone's feedback. So much to learn.

Welcome to HT Gary!!

I’m new around here but certainly not new to trying to improve habitat. I’ve been trying to improve my property via trees and food plots for 12 years now. My main focus has always been and will be whitetails but pheasants are a nice added bonus .

Thanks Bill, Wind Gypsy, and Troubles Trees. I have a lot to learn and a long list of things to do between now and Sept. 15 next year. Hopefully get out a few more times with the bow. Hard to sit in the stand without thinking about doing this to one spot and doing that to another spot. Lots of ideas, just need to think them through.

Hi my name is Michael. I am 43 and this is just my 3rd year deer hunting so I am constantly learning. I hunt 25 acres in central IL that is on our property(well partially in-laws). I didn't get anything the first year, only hunted shotgun. I realized year 2 I would need to add bow hunting to my arsenal because shotgun seasons were just too short and missed good part of the rut. I thought I was going to go through year 2 without one and then on Thanksgiving I connected with a nice 10 point buck! 2nd shotgun season I also got a doe. So far this year, I managed to just graze a really nice buck with shotgun. Luckily I seen him on trail camera later. I haven't really made any habitat changes as I am still trying to figure things out. We have CRP on the north end, which is great, then on the south end(neighbors) they have what I call a highway of deer movement that runs east and west. I have small hills and valleys that the ridges north and south. I have 2 paths that I walk, one on the south side of the CRP and one on the south fence. I have a heck of a time bumping deer when I am walking to any of my stands. I look forward to learning new ideas on this website. Best of luck to everyone!

Welcome PrairieShadow and Brack.

New to the site. I have 55 acres in Gladwin county, MI. I'm really enjoying the habitat and food plot side lately and trying to put deer in front of my 14 year old daughter and 6 year old son. I love the puzzle and hope to learn and share ideas with everyone.
