Who are you?

Doc,
You should start a thread about that app.
I just walked around my house with it and nailed everything I’ve taken a picture of so far.

I WILL DO THAT!! thanks Bill

Which forum you think?

I’m amazed at the number of new sign ups we get that never so much as make a squeak...
And it’s not foreign spammers either because that got so bad I only approve IP’s from certain countries (mostly US and Canada.

Alright today is the day Bill - I'll finally squeak. Hi everyone, I found you all in 2017 after I stumbled onto this forum looking for some box blind design plans (we designed and built from Booner21's blind, thanks man!). 4 years of lurking, is that a record on here? Our family (see Snowshoe post #387 on this thread) purchased 134 acres in Central MN a few years ago and it has been nothing short of a dream come true for me. My dad, myself, and now even my mom are quickly becoming habitat addicts. Personally I am 33yrs old and married with 4 kids. I used to only have three girls, hence my username, but a year and a half ago we were blessed with a boy. Two weeks ago I stood and watched as my dad drove his new JD 4044M around our first foodplot with my son in his lap. That boy is only 18 months old but he REFUSED to let me take him off the tractor when it was time to go in. And Grandpa looked like he felt the same way!

I want to tip my cap to all of you for sharing your wisdom here...blinds, cameras, trails, plots, TSI, land tours...you have helped us save so much time and money already at our property. Hopefully as we try things and get better at our place we can lay down some of our own wisdom and learnings here too. Who knows, maybe we'll get around to doing a land tour ourselves one of these days. Any other father/son duo's here on the forum?

Welcome LoneRooster!

Thanks for speaking up Rooster. Welcome. I think there are quite a few family’s into the habitat thing around here.

Hello all... My nickname has been Duck since I was a child. (reason unknown) I am in my mid fifties now and have been hunting since I was 12..Have seen a lot of changes , good and bad. Bought 80 acres of "pasture" land 25 years ago in Green Lake county Wisconsin....That land was nothing but a travel route for deer back then, with no cover.. It has turned into a great hunting 80 by letting things grow wild , tree plantings , pond digging and about 6 acres of food plots...It is surrounded by ag fields and once the crops come off , the deer sightings increase significantly. I have been a maintenance mechanic most of my life and do a lot of fabricating. I really enjoy putting food plots in each year , and strongly believe that my plots help the critters get through the winter stronger and healthier. I am looking forward to using this website to increase my knowledge of creating a better 80.. Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

Hello,
New to the forum and still finding my way around. My wife and I own a couple parcels of land, one that is 40 acres with our house on it and we "manage" that one so our 2 young boys can hunt the youth seasons near the house. The second is 120 acres that is about 5 miles away and consists of 37 acres of tillable in 3 different fields with the remaining balance in hardwood forest and river bottom. Our lands are in south central wisconsin, columbia county.
I have owned the larger parcel for 6 years now and have been working on some habitat items but thought I would up my game and get some suggestions from you folks.
My big project which I need suggestions for is turning a 17 acre field that is surrounded by hardwoods, into a habitat and food meca.
Looking forward to some conversation,
RiverX

Welcome River
We are not too far apart I’ve got property in Sauk County. lots of knowledge on this forum. Definitely a great resource. Sounds like you’ve got two great locations. Also in southern Wisconsin if you wanted some hands on recommendation John O’Brien is a great resource for us in southern Wisconsin. He is a soils expert. He’s very good at coming out and looking at exactly what’s there and then making recommendations.

Camp,
If it is the same John O'Brien im thinking of, he grew up right down the road a couple miles. The one Im talking about is from Fall River and I know he went to college for agronomy. My high school and his had a co-op football team and I cant remember if he played, but we are darn close in age.

That’s funny I grew up in SP. fished lazy many times. It probably is the same John. He owns Grandpa Rays Outdoors and is a wealth of knowledge.

You’ve probably driven by my old hunting grounds a thousand times

Thanks for the welcome messages guys!

Well, I found the site by searching info on No-Till Drills. I think I'm sold! My wife and I have 26 acres in SW Ohio with about 2/3rds woods (which I stay out of), 2 acre pond and about 3 acres of food plots (but sometimes mostly weeds). After reading the 7 or so pages on the Tar River Drill, I looked at the rest of the site and pretty much smiled. My kind of place. If I can keep my Conservative principles in check, I may even be allowed to stay! Even a section on ponds (I own a pond dredging company), so I decided to join. I've hunted since I was really young, I brought my 870 to 5th Grade "show and tell" and it's been an outdoorsman's life ever since. I know a bit about ponds, plots, reloading, long range shooting, spearfishing, field trials, and some other worthy endevers. Looks like a great place to learn even more.
