Weboost review

On my hunting land, like a lot of us, the phone reception isnt the best. On a good day outside I have 2-3 bars of LTE, but it will switch to 4G, and drop to 1 bar outside. Well I built a steel shop, and as soon as I walked into the shop my phone would go to “no service”.

I have done some researching online for awhile about cell boosters, and the reviews have been all over the place, and with such a variance in prices, anywhere from $9.95 to well over $1000, I didn’t want to waste my time or money on trial and error. A while back cspot said he had got one and it worked for him, so I pulled the trigger and got one myself. I bought the updated model of the one he recommended, model 470144.

To start I had zero reception in the shop at all. I started off walking around the Outside of the shop and seeing where reception was best, it was on the back side corner, I had 3 bars, everywhere else was 1-2 bars. I hooked up the weboost antennas inside and out, and the amplifier, plugged it in, and I had full reception inside the shop. I tested it out by tethering Netflix to my tv, and it played a movie without buffering. I called and talked to people, and it was crystal clear. I played Pandora for several hours, walking around to all over the shop, including upstairs and all worked well.

I can’t speak for the longevity of the weboost, but it is working above my expectations as far as performance, and ease of installation. I figured with so many of us out in the boonies, others may be interested in it. It was a bit expensive, but still cheaper then having to get Satellite internet for $160 a month with a 2 year contract. They have a 30 day money back guarantee, Incase it does t work in your situation.

I like my weboost unit as well, went from almost nothing inside, to 3, maybe 4 bars. Still may go one more level up and go with the yagi directional antenna, more is bettter./

Never heard of it but I’m off looking into it.

What cell service do you use? Or is it good for all?

It is good for all. You aim it at the closest tower of your provider.

We're lucky to have 1 bar of LTE at our farm. Think installing this will help where we could possibly look at utilizing a CuddeLink system?

It worked wonders for me. There is an outside antenna that you aim at your nearest providers tower, you run a cable from it, to an amplifier, then another cable to an inside antenna, then just plug it in. It took less then 10 seconds to boot up, and I had full reception inside, compared to 2-3 bars outside, and prior to it, I had no service at all inside.

Bill, works great, went from barely being able to send a text to having three or four of us on the phone at a time in the house.

There not cheap are they...

I bought the kit from eBay, it was $569+ tax. But if I were to hook up internet, that would have been $160 per month. It wouldn’t have taken long to burn that $600 up.

My wife and I moved to an absolute dead zone for 2 years and I teach online from home so we were in a pretty big conundrum. No internet except slow, ping style.

Anyway, we ordered and setup a WeBoost and it gave us two bars of LTE from a tower that was 20 minutes away. It was fast enough for me to stream video and continue teaching.
It was still functioning when we sold the house and buyer was thrilled to pay extra to keep it.
