Walk behind string trimmers

Do they work well cutting tall grass? Or does the tall grass just get wrapped around the head like a regular weed eater?

Tall grass equals strong fiber structure. I think a higher power unit with a cutter blade might be best choice. I have tried on canary grass and results were not good.

Mine cuts grass fine but doesn't like mature johnson grass.I can't tell you how many hours I cleared grass between rows of shrubs and seedlings over the years
