Wagon blind build

hillrunner

5 year old buck +
I thought I'd show the blind I built this fall. I've built several over the years. I use materials I have around to keep the cost down so the colors aren't always the best match. It's very important to me that they are sealed up tight to keep my scent in and bugs and weather out.

Very nice and well thought out could double for a hunting cabin

Been thinking of doing that for a long time with a gravity box. Very nice!!

I have wanted to do something similar for a long time....but just haven't been able to make it happen. I have a creek bottom that floods every spring and I think having a tower blind to stay out of the weather coupled with it being on wheels would give me everything I could want in one package. And if I want to move for any reason.....not a big deal! Nice build....real nice.

Very nice!
I might use a bigger strap with it sitting on the hill though :emoji_astonished::emoji_fearful::emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Sweet, those deerview windows are worth the money.

Looks great ... all you need is a drop down bed, port-a-potty, & 1 burner stove.

I would be nervous with only those small boards under the tires on the down hill side ...a little too much weight to that side, soft soil or rain and :emoji_astonished::emoji_grimacing:

That thing is amazing. Portable and comfy. And the deer see gravity boxes all fall so they won’t mind it a bit.

For the love of god, please resecure that thing on the hill. I would suggest some bracing on the downhill side to hold it up. Shouldn’t cost much. And as someone else said, those straps won’t hold anything if the blocks fail. Could be a rough ride.

Lol, it's a lot more secure than the pictures make it look. Those blocks are lagged together with cross members underneath which are buried in the ground which they are also lagged to. The high side tires are dug into the ground about 8 inches pretty much making the wagon sliding impossible. Those straps are 2000# straps attached to 3' deep earth anchors. Everyone can breath a sigh of relief, that blind isn't going to go barrel rolling down the hill. Well, hopefully not anyway!

What kind of earth anchors do you use?

Wow I love it!

That’s a great blind !!

Your only downfall is the lack of deer in your area:emoji_confused:Best of luck though!

Totally cool. I'd probably fall asleep in there I'd be so comfy!

Great blind. It looks comfortable for an all day sit. I like the fact that it is mobile and can be moved around with a pickup truck and/or tractor. Makes it very versatile.
My only suggestion would be to paint the inside of the blind black. It will give it more of a puppet or shadow box effect and prevent the deer from seeing any movement inside. If the windows have some special tinting or coloration to accomplish this, forget that comment.

By the time you factor in the price of the Wagon you have some money in one. I would like one built on running gears. Why did you use the entire wagon there are a lot of frames out there.

I used the wagon for the elevation. The gravity box has little to no value, these old gravity wagons sell for the price of the running gear.
This box came on a much nicer 8 ton running gear. I moved the box onto this old worn out gear I had and put the better gear under a nice flatbed. I suspect I tripled my value by putting a flatbed on that gear instead of the box.

I am getting ready to build one too. My buddy is a farmer and has a center dump he gave me. We just use semi tractor/trailers anymore. Like you, I'm going to frame the floor at the top to gain the height. I'm putting a garage door panel blind on top. It will be a cool build. I have several blinds secured with the mobile home tie downs and ratchet straps with no problems.
