Turkey Decoys

Given the live hens were with your decoys and the gobbler did not come to them, I doubt DSD will add anything.

Guess we'll find out. I think the hens didn't mind the junk decoys but the smart old Toms did. Don't ya think? They stayed with those hens more or less for 2 hours, then chose that moment to separate.

Killed my second gobbler this morning. Both over my DSD Jake and hen decoys. Once a gobbler sees my decoy they always come in unless I screw up. Never had that with my old rubber decoys. Not saying you can’t kill them over rubber decoys, just that the DSD look real and will pull the gobblers in. Just my experience!

Wish my DSD were here already. Had a small flock of turkeys including two big gobblers in view for a couple hours this morning. Towards the end, two hens, one having a beard, came in close to my old junky decoys and bedded down with them for 15 minutes. The boss tom skirted just out of range, then he pushed the other tom out of field and directed his attention back at the hens near my setup. He was too nervous to come in. He got to 51.4 yards but didn't give a good shot. Wish I would've ordered from Prime instead of the company. Probably would be tagged out. Don't even have a shipping notice yet.

Sounds like a prime setup to reap that gobbler assuming it’s a safe area to do so! Talk about a fun hunt!

I've never had a gobbler see a jealousy setup and hang with my cheap feather flex decoys. I've several reactions with this setup. Rarely, they turn tail and run. This generally occurs when they see them from a long distance and mistake the setup for a single large turkey when a subdominant bird had been getting his butt kicked. I've also rarely had them actually run full speed into the decoy. The most typical reaction I get is the bird zig-zags in in full strut. This is a cautious approach where they are trying to figure out exactly what the setup is looking at it from different angles. At about 40 yards, they typically stop strutting and fast walk directly in. Most often they circle before an attack.

It doesn't matter if I use my taxidermied decoy or the cheap feather flex type. It is more about the setup than how real they look. General size and shape are the first order of magnitude factors. Most other things are second or third order factors.

Help me out DSD guys. So I ordered a 3rd (feeding hen) DSD from Bass Pro while I was waiting for the 2 to come from the manufacturer. Turns out they mistakenly put my order on hold. Anyway, all 3 ended up coming today. The 2 from DSD are heavy and have dsd info stamped on them. The "dsd" from bass pro weighs a fraction of the weight of the others, and has no dsd stamping on it, and has a different type stake. The paint job looks less impressive also. It did come in a DSD box. Do you think BP took a model off the shelf and stuffed it in a dsd box and I got the wrong one? Does anyone have a feeding hen, or any other model, from DSD that doesn't have "DSD" stamped into the molding?
