Trophy Room / Taxidermy Displays

LOVE the forum... one of only about 6 websites I check daily (and that includes email and news sites). That said, strikes me that at least two threads seem to be missing -- one featuring trophy displays and the other a thread for sharing video captures -- will try and kick off a thread for videos separately.

Guessing good many members enjoy seeing taxidermy works, not only for admiring memorable trophies and hunts but also for the creativity in styles of display. Personally I generally like euro mounts and only have a single shoulder mount. At work now so can't share a photo of the euros but will when I get a chance.

In meantime, I'll start by sharing my shoulder mount display, appreciating bulk of forum members likely have bucks hanging that score WAY higher! Honestly, my curiousiity is as much in seeing HOW works as displayed as much as how impressive they might be. Again, just enjoy seeing pretty much all things taxidermy related! Have to look kind of close, but even have a simple case on the table in the lower picture that contains a few small skull finds from various critters, few arrowheads, and dinosaur teeth I dug up while living in Texas (may share a picture of it later as well).

So having kicked things off, sure would GREATLY enjoy seeing some other taxidermy shares!

My deer "cluster" on the wall in the house isn't very impressive, but this is how my current 3 are hanging. All done by the same local guy...... One day I hope to have a man cave to better display them..... Left is 2011 135 1/8", Center is 2013 143 5/8", Right is 2008 129 3/8" all gross scores. All taken off my property.

Same 3 deer inside my old wood barn.....I like the more rustic look.....

Wow, Swamp Cat, QUITE the collection! Especially love the euro skull collection. Eager to get home so I can share a pic a small skull I found on our place for ID purposes... found it down near my pond and for the life of me I can't decide on exactly what it is. Be interested to hear your take on it when I share it.

Here's a close-up of the shadow box case I use to hold a few random findings, and it holds the mystery skull I've struggled to identify. It's in the far right back corner (left corner is a possum).

Here's a close-up... about the size of a tangerine. Zoomed in photo embarrassingly shows I didn't quite get it pristine clean, but also shows hair on it when I found it was black. That said, that jutted-out snout doesn't look anything like racoon, skunk, possum, baby bear, coyote, bobcat, etc. Though I've only seen a stray domesticated dog roaming our place a time or two each year kind of wonder if it was a little pug-like dog of some sort. Anyone one thinks they know for sure what it is, love to know.

As for euro mounts, I have them in a "man cave" that actually is a shared tv / game room my daughter likes parking in.

All deer shown with the exception of the middle black display buck have been harvested off my North Florida place since we moved to it in 2014. The middle black display buck was a springtime dead-find from my South Carolina hometown. Found it in a bog on my parents place about 30 years ago. Right side (it's left) is typical but left side is all kind of non-typical... has a cup shape depression at the G2 juncture that you could rest a tennis ball in.

Even have some bones from old buck that starved due to horrible jaw issues displayed on a shelf. Said when I posted I love bone displays and I wasn't joking! Lol!

I think you nailed it with some breed of domestic dog...pekinese, pug, chihuahua, etc.

Great thread! Love that second photo in your first post of your sitting room. Classy!

Bigbendmarine - You didn't find that skull around Roswell N.M. did you ?? Got any small skeletons to go with it ?? :emoji_scream:

I would agree with some type of small, flat faced lap dog on that skull.

Only allowed 1 at a time to hang in the living room. I swap out euro mounts every few months. This has a barn board backer from wood fence boards from the farm my family settled at when they migrated from Norway. Current mount on display sports a 2 blade stinger buzz cut in the back of the skull :-)

I bet that one didn't go far after the shot.

He did not. That wasnt intentional and I could tell something was wrong as soon as the arrow left the bow. Still dont know what happened to send an arrow three feet off course. Everyone gets lucky once in a while!
