Train travel across Canada??

Is there an "auto-train" type trip across Canada?
Long term trip planning here...maybe a couple years from now. Thinking about driving the Alaska Highway, return on Alaska Marine ferry (it's great! been on it before...everyone should do it!!!!) and drive back from Washington State. Would be nice to take an auto train one way across the continent. I would gladly drive both ways, but it would be kinda nice to take an auto-train from here in the east to western Canada (or vice versa).
Also...Any advice on driving the Alaska Highway?

Doesn't look like they have anything like the auto train there. Looks like you have to drive to one end and fly way if you want to combine it. But it wouldn't be that much more to make it a separate trip, say fly to Montreal and home from Vancouver. That train ride might be a trip for me to consider when my youngest is a little older.

There isn't a "auto-train". Our VIA rail service to Vancouver runs from Toronto. The Toronto to Vancouver run has births available and meals. I don't think the Toronto to the east coast has the same service, check VIA's web site.

Thanks. Looks like I will need to drive to Alaska and back. Drive the Alcan hwy up and return on the Alaska Marine Ferry which we've done before...ITS GREAT!
That vaca is a couple years away, but I'm already starting early planning.
