Spypoint Cellular with solar for $130

I know there are a lot of complaints about Spypoint but this is tempting, especially with their 100 pics free plan($10 unlimited plan). $129.99 at various places for the Link-Micro-S-LTE Solar. They have new models coming out plus I'm guessing competing with Tactacam.

I only own their Cell-Link but none of their cameras. The Link has been working great all this time..with various cameras.

Maybe they've been this cheap before. I'm just the messenger. Shoot me.

One of my Spypoint cameras started making odd decisions, writing in an alien language on the info bar, steady orange light of death - come to find out that the battery tray had a bit of corrosion. Not an uncommon problem from what I hear. But for the price of a 12v cord adaptor and an old 9AHr ice fishing battery, it's back in business. I'm not sure that a solar would circumvent the corrosion issue, since you still need to have batteries.

Now, if only I could get the cell link modem to stop interpolating my awesome high resolution cameras. Pixel city.

Do you think it's because of moisture, or a bit of leakage? I wonder if this dry lubricant/corrosion inhibitor I have would prevent it.

They say to choose the lowest MP on the camera you use but I've got mine at 18MP and the pics have been ok. Tempted to try the HD request option. It looks like the batteries may be dead in the camera though, as the Link shows 100% yet. Won't know 'til next week if that's the only problem.

Try a little silica gel inside the camera.

Good idea. Thanks. So far, the ice fishing battery has been the bomb. But I'm going to try your idea with my Moultries.
